MGNREGS will support the migrant workers who are affected due to the COVID19 pandemic and are returning to their villages, said India’s finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
On May 12, 2020, the Prime Minister of India announced a special package of Rs. 20 lakh crore to make the Indian economy self-dependent. The package amount is 10% off India’s total GDP. This package is amongst the largest relief packages announced in the world by a different countries.PM also said that use Indian products to make “Atmanirbhar Bharat”.This package will provide incentives for the MSME and other small businesses.PM did not share the package details.FM Nirmals shared the details of the 20 lakh crore package. On May 13 the first tranche of 20 lakh crore package was announced and today on May 14 2020, the second tranche is announced by FM Nirmala Sitaraman.
As per today’s announcement, the government will provide jobs for the migrant workers who are returning to their village under the MGNREGS.

Announcement of MGNREGS for migrants
According to this tweet, 14.62 crore person-days of work are generated under MGNREGS till May 13, 2020, and expenditure till date is around Rs.10000 crore. Now the average wage rate of labours of MGNREGS is increased to Rs.202.MGNREGA works such as plantations and other works will continue in the monsoon period.
